Jordan is going to State! Jordan decided to participate in National History Day this year instead of doing a science project. This was because her homeroom teacher, Mr. Kind is a HUGE history buff! Imagine our surprise when she decided to do a performance instead of a documentary, board presentation, etc. She came up with the idea to something about Walt Disney's life. So one night she decided to tell Walt's story through the eyes of his wife Lillian Disney. You may notice in her pictures she is sporting a brown almost black wig in pin curls. She is taking us back to the 1930's. Lillian and Walt had just met and fell in love and were married just a few months later! Jordan had to do hours of research to write a process paper and list all her primary and secondary sources. This was a lot of work for a 6th grader, but with a little help, she got it done! The story she tells about her and Walt is really funny and also kind of sad. Jordan wrote out a monolog and recites all 6 minutes of it as she performs. She has props behind consisting of sketches of Mickey Mouse, Donald, etc. We are so thrilled for her! She will be competing at the University of Minnesota on May 2nd. Her chances of going on to Nationals in Washington D.C. are very small, but we couldn't be more excited! Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers! A quick shout out to Nana and Papa who traveled down to cheer her on! We had a great time! Papa took us all out to eat at TGIFriday's to celebrate! (It's Jordan's favorite restaurant!) I will video her performance at State and post it later! You really have to see her in action! Way to go Kiddo! We love you!
